The basics

What exactly is Apiary?

Apiary is a single subscription that gets you Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini through one chat interface and one monthly bill. You buy credits, you spend them on whichever model fits your question, and whatever you don’t use rolls over to next month.

How is this different from ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro?

Plus and Pro are flat $20/month. Your capacity resets every cycle — if you didn’t use it, it’s gone. And you only get the one model.

Apiary lets you size your plan to your actual usage, gives you every major model from a single bill, and rolls unused credits forward up to 3× your plan size.

Wait — what’s an API? And why’s it in the name?

Picture going out to dinner. You tell the waiter what you’d like, the kitchen cooks it, and the waiter brings it back. You don’t need to know how the chef works — you just want a good meal.

An API (Application Programming Interface) is exactly that waiter — the friendly messenger that carries your question to the AI and brings the answer back. Every chatbot you’ve used talks to its AI through one.

The api in APIary is right there in the name because we are the restaurant — every AI’s kitchen wired into one dining room. One waiter. One menu. One bill.

When does Apiary launch?

Public launch is targeted for 2026. Waitlist users get access first. We’ll only email when there’s real news — no countdown spam.

Models & how it works

Which models does Apiary support?

At launch: Claude (Haiku, Sonnet, Opus), ChatGPT (GPT‑5.4, GPT‑5.5), and Gemini Flash. More models added as they release. Let Apiary auto-pick the right one for your question — or choose manually.

How does Apiary pick which model answers my question?

By default Apiary auto-routes: short questions go to a fast model (1 credit), complex ones to a smart one (3 credits), long-form work goes to Pro mode (9 credits, longer answers).

You can override at any time by picking a mode (Fast / Smart / Search / Pro) or a specific model from the picker. On Core and Power you can even run two models side-by-side and keep the better answer.

Can I see citations or web search results?

Yes — Search mode (4 credits per message) runs your question through a search-grounded model and returns answers with real citations to the sources it pulled from. Great for current events, fact-checking, or anything where you want a link to the original.

Can I upload files?

Core and Power plans support PDF, image, and text uploads. Drag a file into the chat or paste it directly — the model reads it and answers questions about it. Lite is text-only.

Are my conversations used to train AI models?

No. We use official developer APIs from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google — all of which have no-training defaults on their API tiers. Your conversations are not used to train models. See our privacy policy for the full breakdown.

Plans & credits

What happens to unused credits at the end of the month?

They roll forward into a bank that caps at 3× your plan size — 900 for Lite, 2,250 for Core, 6,000 for Power.

When you hit the cap, new monthly credits keep refilling but the bank stops growing — so use them or stay topped off, your call.

How much does a typical question cost?

Depends on the mode you’re in. Fast is 1 credit (quick chat, summaries). Smart is 3 (the everyday default). Search is 4 (web-grounded with citations). Pro is 9 (long, careful answers up to 4,096 tokens).

Can I change plans?

Anytime, in two clicks. Upgrades prorate immediately. Downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle, and your existing rollover balance comes with you.

What if I run out of credits mid-month?

Buy a top-up. Three tiers, valid 90 days from purchase:

· 400 credits for $5
· 950 credits for $10 — best value
· 2,000 credits for $20 — biggest discount

The per-credit rate gets better the more you buy. If you’re topping up every month, a subscription gives you more credits per dollar — and they roll over.

Is there a free tier?

Early waitlist users get a free trial when Apiary opens, plus bonus credits on month one for being early. After that, plans start at $5/mo. We don’t run an indefinite free tier — it would compromise our ability to keep prices honest.

Is there an annual discount?

Coming after launch. Waitlist users will get the first crack at annual pricing — expect roughly two months free for paying yearly.

How can the math work? Aren’t you reselling the same APIs?

Yes — we use official developer APIs from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google. Margin comes three ways: most users underconsume their plan, unused rollover has natural breakage, and we negotiate volume pricing as we scale. The savings come from sizing your plan to your real usage — not from arbitrage.

Account & cancel

What happens if I cancel?

Your rolled-over balance stays active for 90 days after your last payment. Come back inside that window and your credits are still there. Losing your balance the second you cancel never sat right with us, so we built it that way on purpose.

How do I delete my account and data?

One-click delete in account settings, or email hello@useapiary.com. We wipe your conversations, account, and personal data permanently. See the privacy policy for what we store and for how long.

Can I export my conversation history?

Yes — export to Markdown or JSON from settings, any time. Your data is your data.

I have a billing question.

Email hello@useapiary.com and we’ll get back to you within one business day. Billing is handled by Stripe; you can also manage cards and download invoices directly from the customer portal linked in your account.

Do you have a team plan?

Team plans — shared credit pool, admin dashboard, SSO — are on the post-launch roadmap. Drop your email on the waitlist and mention “team” in the form and we’ll loop you in when the beta opens.
